Kiran Bhimani

Founder

A bit about me: I recently graduated from NYU with a BA in Math and Computer Science and a minor in Economics. I currently work as a Software Developer at Citibank.

I have always had a passion for math and problem solving. When I got to college in 2014, I decided to take my first ever programming class and fell in love with it. I couldn’t help but notice the lack of women identifying students and professors in the Computer Science department. Since then, I have been organizing and teaching basic tech courses to students in elementary and middle school. One day, I hope to live in a world where women make up at least half of the tech work force.

Apart from coding, I enjoy acting, social justice, dancing, yoga and reading crime novels.

Jazmin Jinnah

Education Director

My passion for education and social justice stems from a love of forming meaningful relationships to explore our humanity and deepest selves. I teach 5th grade science and am also receiving my masters in special education grades 5-12. I am especially interested in the pedagogy that dismantles the school-to-prison pipeline and improving diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within NYC public education.

While I was interested in education at a young age, I first experienced the magic of coding my junior year of college.

Mariah Paige Harilall

Communications Director

Mariah is currently a student at NYU studying computer science. While she loves programming, she also has a deep passion for advancing diversity and inclusion. When Mariah first began programming, she was intimidated by what seemed like a bunch of random letters and numbers on a screen and thought it was something out of reach. Today, she codes everyday, using her creativity to develop websites and solve problems. Now that she has overcome the challenge of stepping into the tech world, she wants to encourage young students to challenge themselves as well. By addressing the misconceptions about computer science, she believes any young student is capable with the right guidance.
